Location
Gili Air is an idyllic atoll just 1.1km / a 10 minute boat ride from Lombok. With its powder white sand, shades of turquoise blue sea, relaxed atmosphere & friendly locals, it’s the perfect getaway! ‘Gili’ means island & ‘Air’ means water in the local Sasak language. The 173 hectare island is home to approximately 1400 inhabitants, the largest population of the three Gili /Island chain it is a part of. The other two islands are Gili Trewangan (the largest) & Gili Meno (next to Gili Air). Many of the older generation are still coconut farmers, boatmen and fishermen. There are no cars, motorbikes or any form of motorized transport on Gili Air, just traditional horse drawn carts called Cidomos or bicycles. You can walk around the whole island in approximately one and a half hours. We ask that you do not bring any plastic bottles or bags to Kai's Beach House or Gili Air ....lets help the island with its waste disposal!
